About Us

Background

The history of the Buruuj Training Institute (BTI) dates back to July 2006, when its predecessor, the TJ Computer College, commenced Training in Sotik Town, Bomet County.

In 2008, TJ computer college relocated to Nairobi. In 2015, it started offering Strategic Management and Islamic Finance Training with a bias towards short term courses targeting corporates.

The growing demand for training by institutions gave rise to the Buruuj Training Institute (BTI), whose objective was to reach out to a broader audience mainly through Open, Distance, and eLearning (ODeL).

Our Operations

BTI offers truly blended learning: we offer our courses through Open, Distance, and eLearning and hybrid on a need basis. The courses are innovatively designed and highly structured way supported by the best up-to-date technology.

The Institute offers Islamic Finance, Business, Entrepreneurship, Education, and Language courses.

Our Team

Tego Wolasa

Board Chairman

Tego Wolasa is the founder and Chairman. He brings over 15 years of management and lecturing experience to BTI. During the 15 years, he has served in senior management positions, including Branch manager in both KCB and First Community Bank, Corporate Banker, and Product development manager at KCB Islamic Banking. Previously he was a lecturer at Umma University in the School of Business and Technology.

Tego

Tego Wolasa

Tego Wolasa is the founder and Chairman. He brings over 15 years of management and lecturing experience to BTI. During the 15 years, he has served in senior management positions, including Branch manager in both KCB and First Community Bank, Corporate Banker, and Product development manager at KCB Islamic Banking. Previously he was a lecturer at Umma University in the School of Business and Technology.

Tego has also served as the Chairman of the Frontier Selam Sacco and a Shariah advisory committee member at Taqwa Sacco. Besides, he also served on the Shariah advisory board of the Government-run Youth enterprise development fund.

Tego has conducted dozens of public lectures and workshops on Entrepreneurship & Islamic Finance in mosques, social halls, and local Universities around Kenya. Among the places include Africa Education Development Trust (AEDT) & Helping Hand, Taqwa Sacco, Neemat Sacco, Ribaless Sacco, Barqa Sacco, Barka Sacco, Aqeel Consulting, Umma University, NAMSA & Amana Sacco.

Tego is currently co-authoring an Islamic Finance question and answer book. He published a dictionary translating his native Burji language to English, Swahili & Amharic.

He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Entrepreneurship from the University of Nairobi. He holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Strategic Management from Kenyatta University and another MBA in Islamic Finance from Alhuda CIBE- Pakistan. Tego also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Islamic banking and insurance from the London-based Institute of Islamic Banking and Insurance-UK. He has a Bachelor of Business Management degree with a specialization in Finance and banking from Moi University. In addition to numerous short term courses, Tego also holds a Certificate in Arabic and Islamic Studies from Umma University.

He is an Associate Fellow at the Institute of Islamic Banking and Insurance UK (AFIIBI). Tego also served as a member of the Umma University Islamic Finance Committee.

Gollo Hasse

Principal & Board Secretary

Gollo is a career teacher with experience spanning over 20 years.

He holds a primary school training from Mosoriot Teachers Training College, a Degree in Education from Kenyatta University, and a Masters degree in the same field from Mount Kenya University. Gollo holds a Diploma in Special education from the Kenya Institute of Special Education (KISE).

Gollo Hasse

Gollo is a career teacher with experience spanning over 20 years.

He holds a primary school training from Mosoriot Teachers Training College, a Degree in Education from Kenyatta University, and a Masters degree in the same field from Mount Kenya University. Gollo holds a Diploma in Special education from the Kenya Institute of Special Education (KISE).

With a Diploma in Education Management from the Kenya Institute of Education Management, Gollo is experienced in teaching and school administration.

Also, in addition to years of experience in teaching at the primary school level, Gollo has taught at Frontier Training College, an affiliate of Kampala University. He also held the deputy headmaster’s position at the Moyale school for Special education and the headteacher.

Muhsin Mohamed Said

Board Members

Muhsin is a renowned Islamic finance expert with over 13 years’ experience in Banking and University Administration. The former Pemba Campus administrator at Zanzibar University is currently the General Manager, Sharia, and Products at Amana Bank Limited. Previously, he served as the Sharia compliance manager at KCB Bank, Tanzania. Muhsin is also a member of the Islamic Banking Committee in the Tanzania Bankers Association.

Muhsin Mohamed Said

Muhsin is a renowned Islamic finance expert with over 13 years’ experience in Banking and University Administration. Muhsin, a graduate of Economics from Zanzibar University, also holds a postgraduate Diploma in Business Management from the Association of Business Practitioners, London. He also has a master’s degree in Islamic Banking and Finance from Pebble Hills University, London. Muhsin is a Certified Islamic Finance Expert (CIFE) from ETHICA Institute of Islamic Finance and Certified Takaful Professional (CTP) from the Institute of Islamic Banking and Finance, Kent. The UK.

Ali Edris Chulle

Board Members

Ali has over 13 years of experience in the corporate world management of a training institute. He is among the founders of the Future Dream Business College based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

He is currently serving as deputy director, tax investigation audit process in the ministry of Revenue. He has previously served as a fraud investigation coordinator and intelligence collection officer in the same ministry.

Muhsin

Ali Edris Chulle

Ali has over 13 years of experience in the corporate world management of a training institute. He is among the founders of the Future Dream Business College based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

He is currently serving as deputy director, tax investigation audit process in the ministry of Revenue. He has previously served as a fraud investigation coordinator and intelligence collection officer in the same ministry.

Ali also holds an MBA in Business from St. Mary’s University Addis Ababa and a Degree in Accounting from the same University. Previously, he acquired an Economics Degree from Haromaya University in Ethiopia.

Crablinks provides Buruuj Training Institute with Information Technology related services.

They provide BTI with web design, web development, brand identity, digital marketing, IT & network infrastructure support, business continuity solutions, Cyber Security, and IT Training.

Besides, they work with our internal IT personnel in managing the BTIs e-learning platform.

Crablinks has a team of highly trained individuals with vast experiences in providing IT solutions for small and mid-sized companies.
