This leadership transition coincides with the announcement of ambitious new projects for the foundation. Ms. Sago succeeds Qamar Bishar, who previously held the position of acting program manager.
In a strategic move to strengthen its governance and future direction, Mr. Bishar will now join the Kiamaiko Foundation’s Board of Directors.
Supporting their efforts is a dedicated team of 10 volunteers who contribute their expertise across various aspects of the foundation’s work.
The Kiamaiko Foundation was established in 2016 by Founder and Trustee Director Tego Wolasa and fellow trustee Mr. Daud Abdi. Initially funded through the personal resources of its founders, the foundation was formally registered in 2019.
Their commitment has enabled the organization to significantly impact numerous lives, including providing full scholarships to over 50 students. Notably, 10 of these scholarship recipients are currently enrolled in various TVET diploma courses, gaining valuable technical skills for their future careers.
Furthermore, the foundation has played a crucial role in supporting families through livelihood initiatives and the provision of essential working capital.
Looking to the future, the Kiamaiko Foundation is actively engaged in fundraising for a significant new project: the establishment of an integrated boarding college for vulnerable girls. This institution will provide education in both Islamic studies and technical courses.
With Hamida Said Sago leading program implementation and Qamar Bishar bringing his renewed energy to the Board of Directors alongside other new members, the Kiamaiko Foundation, under the continued guidance of Founder and Trustee Director Tego Wolasa and trustee Mr. Daud Abdi, is well-positioned for a period of growth and increased impact within local communities and beyond.
