On a bright and breezy Saturday morning, a group of BTI colleagues laced up their hiking boots, packed their snacks, and set off on a self-organized adventure to the scenic Ngong Hills. Though not an official BTI College event, the hike was a great show of camaraderie, self-motivation, and the shared value we place on wellness, teamwork, and outdoor exploration.
The idea to hike Ngong Hills began as a casual conversation among colleagues, eventually transforming into a well-coordinated day trip, driven by the simple desire to reconnect outside the virtual and classroom spaces. We were united by a spirit of adventure and a mutual interest in stepping away from our daily routines to engage with nature and each other.
The hike, stretching along the breathtaking ridges of the Ngong Hills, was as challenging as it was rewarding. Battling strong winds and steep slopes, we encouraged one another through every step—celebrating each milestone and soaking in the panoramic views of Nairobi, the Rift Valley, and the wind turbines that dot the landscape.
From steep climbs to hearty laughter, from shared snacks to scenic selfies, the hike offered more than just exercise—it was a refreshing reminder of the power of community outside the work environment. It was a chance to connect on a personal level, away from emails and deadlines, in the company of nature and colleagues.
Encouraged by how rejuvenating and meaningful the experience was, we’re excited to announce that this hike was the first of many. Our goal is to make it a monthly tradition, exploring different trails and natural spots while strengthening the bond among us as colleagues and friends.
Though the hike wasn’t officially affiliated with BTI College, it spoke volumes about the community we’re building. At BTI, we believe that personal growth goes hand in hand with well-being, and what better way to embody that than by embracing the outdoors together?
Here’s to many more hikes, laughs, and adventures to come!
